Juan Carlos Payano retained his WBA bantamweight title against Rau’shee Warren on Saturday in Winter Park, Florida, but not much was settled.

The rough fight was close and difficult to score, leading two judges to see it one way (113-111 for Payano) and one to see it another way (115-109 for Warren).

Payano (17-0, eight knockouts) went down in the 12th and final round and was docked a point in the third round for hitting behind the head.

The referee took two points in the ninth from Warren (13-1, 4 KOs) for punching Payano when he was down.

Warren, a former U.S. Olympian, was fighting for a world title for the first time.
