Danny Jacobs defeated Sergio Mora by a technical knockout at 2:55 of the second round when Mora injured his right ankle and couldn’t continue on the Danny Garcia-Paulie Malignaggi card Saturday in Brooklyn, New York.

Jacobs (30-1, 27 knockouts) and Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) both went down in the first round, first Mora by a short right from Jacobs and then Jacobs from a short left.

The second round was relatively uneventful until Mora, with Jacobs attacking, collapsed near the ropes and injured his right ankle. He got up limping and couldn’t continue.

Mora said he heard a pop and that he believed the ankle was broken. He was removed from ringside on a gurney with his ankle immobilized.

Jacobs has stopped all 10 of his opponents since he was stopped by Dmitry Pirog in 2010. Mora, 34, entered the fight with five consecutive victories.
