Abraham Lopez vs. Jorge Diaz will be the main event of “LA Fight Club” on Aug. 6 now that Julian Ramirez has been forced to withdraw due to illness, it was announced via press release on Friday afternoon. Ramirez was originally to headline against Hugo Partida.

Lopez-Diaz will be contested at featherweight over 10 rounds at Los Angeles’ Belasco Theater.

Release follows:

Unbeaten in 19 professional fights, La Puente, Calif.’s Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez wants to start making his move to the elite level at 126 pounds and despite a draw against Juan Carlos Martinez in March, the 27-year-old’s fifth-round knockout of 1996 Ghanian Olympian Alfred Tetteh in May proved that he’s ready for that next step. Owner of wins over Gabriel Tolmajyan and Aaron Garcia, Lopez is looking forward to his next challenge against Jorge Diaz.

Hailing from New Brunswick, New Jersey, Jorge “King” Diaz is looking to start of 2015 of the right track with a win under his belt. The fighter most recently faced Luis Rosa, Ramon Ellis and Jose Haro in 2014. A professional since 2007, Diaz remained busy and kept up his undefeated status until 2010. He is hoping to get back on track in this new chapter of his career when he takes on the undefeated Los Angeles native, Abraham Lopez.

The co-main event will feature East L.A.’s Roy Tapia in a televised eight-round junior featherweight bout against Juan Hernandez, of Tijuana, Mexico.
