Floyd Mayweather Jr. could lose his WBO welterweight title as soon as Monday.

The sanctioning body told ESPN.com that it expects to strip Mayweather of its belt because he failed to comply with its rules, which includes paying a $200,000 sanctioning fee by the deadline this past Friday and vacating his junior middleweight titles.

Mayweather was obliged to pay the fee after he took the WBO 147-pound belt from Manny Pacquiao on May 2 but never did, according to the WBO. And he said after the Pacquiao fight that he would give up his belts – WBA 154 and 147, WBC 154 and 147, and WBO 147 – but failed to do so.

The WBO’s championship committee will make the final decision on its belt.

Tim Bradley outpointed Jessie Vargas on June 27 for the interim WBO 147-pound belt. If Mayweather is stripped, Bradley would become full titleholder.
