Earlier this week WBC heavyweight titleholder Deontay Wilder stated that a bout against Lucas Browne could be his next assignment and both parties seem very eager for the fight to take place.

Browne, 22-0 (19 knockouts), began goading “The Bronze Bomber” following his below-par performance against Eric Molina, earlier this month, and it didn’t take long for Wilder to respond. The unbeaten 29-year-old, who is rated No. 2 by THE RING, released a video on social networking to confirm the matter is now “personal”.

“I saw Deontay’s video and wasn’t really impressed,” Browne said in a press release issued by Hatton Promotions. “He said that I don’t believe in myself, but anyone who knows me will tell you that could not be further from the truth. I believe I’m the hardest hitting heavyweight in the world and there’s no doubt in my mind of that.

“Deontay said he hopes I continue to climb the rankings but I’m ranked higher than Molina, who would be lucky to last three rounds with me. I’m happy to fight Wilder anywhere in the world: Las Vegas, New York, his backyard, wherever. It’s a fight that would be explosive and that’s what fans want to see in heavyweight boxing.”

Matt Clark, Browne’s manager, says he would have no problems arranging the fight, should Wilder’s representatives get in touch.

“If Wilder’s team can send us a contract we will have it back to them signed, sealed and delivered – immediately,” he revealed. “You’ve got two brutal sluggers with dynamite in each fist. The difference is Lucas Browne has a great chin to match his concussive power.

“If the version of Deontay Wilder that fought Molina shows up against Lucas Browne, he’s getting knocked out and Australia will have its first ever world heavyweight champion. Lucas Browne fears no man on this planet. Let’s make the fight a reality!”
