Get ready, fight fans; this might just be the most anticipated “Premier Boxing Champions” scrap yet. Adrien Broner, the fast-talking, flashy-fisted Cincy product who walks in the “Love him or hate him” footsteps of Floyd Mayweather Jr., will take on fellow Ohioan Shawn Porter June 20, in Las Vegas, a source tells RingTV.com.
Cincy vs. Cleveland, bragging rights up for grabs…
The bout will be contested at a catchweight, a max of 145 pounds, and there will be a re-hydration clause in the contract. Neither Porter, quite comfy at 147, nor Broner, still finding his correct weight class, can be more than 155 on the day of the fight, that source informed us. The negotiations lingered some because the Broner side demanded that re-hydration element. My take: I see that demand as being a wise one. There’s no reason one boxer should be a weight class or two more than his foe on fight night and I think all the sanctioning bodies and commissions should adopt a hard cap on weight gain, between the weigh-in and fight night.

Both men are coming in off wins; Porter took out late sub Erick Bone on NBC, while Broner made easy work of John Molina Jr. in his last PBC outing.

The MGM Grand will be the staging ground for the tussle.
