Ahead of this weekend’s eagerly anticipated Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight, RingTV.com presents Round 2 of our Fight Picks.

This time we spoke with a common opponent of both men, Ricky Hatton, former heavyweight champion Larry Holmes and Pacquiao’s most recent victim, Chris Algieri.

Here is what the experts had to say:

Chris Algieri, former WBO junior welterweight titleholder

Floyd Mayweather PTS 12 Manny Pacquiao: Styles make fights and I believe this is a style that suits Mayweather. He’s the smartest fighter in the game, he will be able to pick up on certain flaws and exploit them. Manny is going to make him work in there and I believe the first few rounds are going to be very interesting. Manny is a different and smarter fighter than he was before the Marquez KO. Ultimately, though, I see Mayweather winning a decision.

Kathy Duva, promoter, Main Events

Floyd Mayweather to beat Manny Pacquiao: Well, my heart is with Pacquiao, but my head is with Mayweather. Hoping that my heart prevails! It is very hard to pick against someone with Floyd’s remarkable skills with any confidence. But if Manny can manage to bully him around and cause enough disruption, he might be able to prevail.

Lee Groves, RingTV.com

Floyd Mayweather PTS 12 Manny Pacquiao: Although Mayweather has faced fighters with elements of Pacquiao’s game — left-handedness, mobility, volume punching, power — he hasn’t faced a single fighter with all those attributes. Because Pacquiao is that fighter he will give Mayweather a rough time and his relentlessness will make this fight an exciting one. However, Floyd is the naturally bigger man, he can crack when he needs to and he has more strategic options at his disposal. For example, he overcame the slow start against Judah by coming forward, banging both hands to the body and landing straight rights down the middle. That could be the route Mayweather takes in the second half of the fight. It will be hard-fought, but Mayweather will find a way to win.

Ricky Hatton, former junior welterweight and welterweight champion ( has faced both Mayweather and Pacquiao. Against Mayweather he lost by 10th-round stoppage in 2007, and was knocked out in two rounds by Pacquiao in 2009.)

Floyd Mayweather PTS 12 Manny Pacquiao: It’s going to take someone of similar speed, which Pacquiao has got, and someone who’s got fast feet who is able get in and out [to beat Mayweather]. Manny shuffles in and out very well, but he needs to throw a lot of punches because Floyd’s workrate is not massive. Floyd chooses his moments, when to raise it, when to drop it.

If Manny sets a high tempo, in-and-out fast hands, straight punches, he has the style to beat Floyd. But if Manny just sits on his chest and punches away like we’ve all done, I think that plays into Floyd’s hands. Floyd adapts his style against whatever opponent he faces. I think he’ll do the same to Manny. I can’t see Freddie Roach telling him to jump on Floyd. I just can’t see Manny jumping all over him, because everyone’s tried that, me included, and everyone’s failed.

Also if Floyd Sr. is training Jr. then that will be interesting, as he didn’t do much southpaw pads with me. He wasn’t that good on the pads doing southpaw. I should have heard alarm bells ringing when he trained me. But that’s another story.

Although I think Manny’s got the style to beat him, I’m still going to go with Mayweather; he always finds a way to win. Manny is a clever boxer but I’d have to say the cleverest fighter in boxing is Mayweather.

Larry Holmes, former heavyweight champion

Floyd Mayweather PTS 12 Manny Pacquiao: Mayweather is a better boxer. Mayweather should win by decision.

Lamont Peterson, former IBF and WBA junior welterweight

Floyd Mayweather UD 12 Manny Pacquiao: I can see either guy winning the fight. Whoever executes their game plan will be the guy who wins and if I go with that, I’m going with Mayweather. I see Mayweather figuring Pacquiao’s style early and cruising to an easy unanimous decision but if he doesn’t figure out Pacquiao’s style in the first few rounds it could be a long night for Mayweather.

Kalle Sauerland, promoter, Sauerland Event

Floyd Mayweather UD 12 Manny Pacquiao: Mayweather will win via a UD. He will box and Pacquiao will try and make it a fight. As long as he does not try and trade with him the fight will be a comfortable points-win for ‘Money.’

Adonis Stevenson, THE RING and WBC light heavyweight champion

Floyd Mayweather PTS 12 Manny Pacquiao: It is going to be a close fight because they are two specialists in their respective craft: Pacquiao on offense and Mayweather on defense. It should be a good fight for everybody.

Antonio Tarver, former 5-time world champion

Floyd Mayweather PTS 12 Manny Pacquiao: I have to go with ‘Money’ but with a few serious rough patches throughout the fight. ‘Money’ by split decision. If Pac wins this fight it’s by way of a one-punch knockout, which looms as long as ‘Pacman’ is in front of him. Floyd’s a lot tougher then people are giving him credit for, and if he has to bite down and fight, he can do that too.

Jessie Vargas, junior welterweight

Floyd Mayweather KO Manny Pacquiao: A tough pick. If there is a knockout I see Floyd, otherwise a draw.

Round 2: Mayweather is favored 10-0 over Pacquiao; leading 18-2 overall.
