THE RING was a big winner in the 14^th annual Boxing Writers Association of American contest, taking eight awards.

Springs Toledo, a journalist and author, was the top individual winner. He took four awards, two first places and two second places.

THE RING winners: Joseph Santoliquito, three honorable mentions (news story, feature story under 1,500 words and feature story over 1,500 words); Michael Rosenthal, third place (feature story under 1,500 words); and four more honorable mentions (Gordon Marino, feature under 1,500 words; Lee Groves, feature over 1,500 words; Bernard Fernandez, feature over 1,500 words, and Norm Frauenheim, investigative reporting).

The winners will be recognized at the 90^thannual BWAA Awards Dinner, which is April 24 at Capitale in New York City.
