Keith Thurman outclassed Roberto Guerrero to win a unanimous decision in a 12-round welterweight bout on NBC’s Premier Boxing Champions card Saturday in Las Vegas.

Thurman (25-0, 21 knockouts) used his superior speed and skills to outbox the tough Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs) for almost the entire fight. The scores reflect his dominance: 120-107, 118-109 and 118-108.

Thurman suffered a giant knot on his head as the result of a clash of heads in the third round but it didn’t have an impact on the fight.

Thurman did an excellent job of moving in, doing damage and getting out before Guerrero could respond but couldn’t hurt the former titleholder – until the ninth round.

That’s when Thurman put Guerrero down with a right uppercut. Guerrero, who also suffered a cut above his left eye, barely survived the round. However, he demonstrated his heart after that, bringing the fight to Thurman even though he was hopelessly behind on the cards.
