Unbeaten junior welterweight prospect Antonio Orozco is withdrawing from his co-main event bout against Emanuel Taylor on March 12 at Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio due to a training injury, according to a Golden Boy Promotions press release.

Orozco (21-0, 15 knockouts), of San Diego, suffered a deep cut near his right eye while sparring on Monday, according to the press release that was sent out on Thursday.

“I was prepared and excited to go up against Emanuel Taylor on March 12. I know that facing him and beating him would have been a grand debut in 2015,” Orozco stated in the press release. “I am very disappointed in the outcome and now need to heal and be ready for a fight as soon as possible.”

The main event of the HBO Latino-televised show, which pits unbeaten junior lightweight contender Francisco Vargas against once-beaten Australian standout Will Tomlinson, remains intact. The new co-main event bout of the Golden Boy Promotions/Lejia-Battah Promotions event will feature undefeated prospect Frankie Gomez (18-0, 13 KOs), of East L.A., in a scheduled 10-round welterweight bout. An opponent for Gomez has not been announced.

It is not known if Taylor will remain on the card.
