Unbeaten Brazilian junior middleweight prospect Patrick Teixeira, who was last in the ring for a third round stoppage of Ulises David Lopez in November, has signed with Golden Boy Promotions, president and founder Oscar De La Hoya announced on Monday.

“Today is a very special day for my professional career. My dream was to sign with Golden Boy Promotions and get to know Oscar De La Hoya,” said Teixeira (24-0, 20 knockouts), a 5-foot-11 southpaw who turned 24 last month.

“I know that more opportunities will open up as a result of my signing on to the exclusive roster of fighters at Golden Boy Promotions, and they will guide my career down the right path in order to give great performances for all my fans.”

Teixeira-Lopez was part of an event matching several Brazilians and Argentines. One of those bouts featured Brazilian 2012 Olympic bronze medalist and middleweight prospect Yamaguchi Falcao earning a unanimous decision over Argentina’s Martin Fidel Rios, representing a rematch of their controversial no-contest in January 2014.

“American fans unfamiliar with the hard-hitting power and one-punch knockout potential of Patrick Texiera will soon know his name,” said De La Hoya, “and so will his opponents in the super welterweight division. We look forward to a long relationship with Patrick that ends with him reaching his full potential of winning a world championship belt.”

Teixeira already has fought in his native Brazil as well as Mexico City, Miami, and Southern California.

“I am very excited to have had the opportunity to work with a young fighter such as Patrick Teixeira and have brought such a great talent to Golden Boy Promotions,” said Edu Peixoto, Teixeira’s manager. “Golden Boy Promotions is the leading boxing promoter in the world, and without a doubt will take Patrick to new heights in his career and make him a world champion.”
