Muhammad Ali hospitalized with pneumonia, ‘prognosis good’

Muhammad Ali is hospitalized with “a mild case of pneumonia” that was caught early and should result in a short hospital stay, an Ali spokesman told The Associated Press on Saturday.

Althouh the spokesman, Bob Gunnell, declined to disclose where the three-time heavyweight champion is hospitalized, “He went into the hospital this morning,” said Gunnell in a telephone interview with the AP. “He has a mild case of pneumonia and the prognosis is good. This all came about this morning.”

Ali, 72, who is battling Parkinson’s disease, is in stable condition, according to Gunnel, who said he would release no other details due to the Ali family’s request for privacy.
