RANDY CABALLERO, FERNANDO VARGAS TO BE HONORED NEXT WEEK

Newly crowned IBF bantamweight titleholder Randy Caballero and former junior middleweight titleholder Fernando Vargas will be celebrated during events surrounding a Nov. 13 Golden Boy Live! show at the Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino in Indio, California, Golden Boy has announced.

Caballero’s event will take place at LIT Lounge on Nov. 12 and Vargas will participate in a fan meet-and-greet at The Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs on Nov. 13. Fans with tickets to the Golden Boy Live! fight will be permitted to enter.

Golden Boy Live! will be televised on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes and will feature junior featherweights Joseph Diaz Jr. and Diego De La Hoya in separate bouts, plus featherweight Julian Ramirez and 7-foot Chinese heavyweight Taishan Dong putting their undefeated records on the line.

“On Nov. 12 and 13, fans will get to witness the bright future of boxing up close and personal at Fantasy Springs,” said Oscar De La Hoya, president and founder of Golden Boy.

“Whether it’s celebrating Randy Caballero’s homecoming in the wake of his title victory, or watching four young, hungry and undefeated fighters looking to take their next step towards a title shot, fans will come away knowing that the sport of boxing is in very good hands for years to come.”

Caballero (22-0, 13 knockouts) won the title last month with a unanimous decision over Stuart Hall in Monte Carlo.

In September Diaz (12-0, 8 KOs), a 2012 U.S. Olympian who turns 22 on Nov. 23, floored Raul Hidalgo four times on his way to a seventh-round knockout.

Ramirez (12-0, 7 KOs), the 21-year-old great-nephew of the late former titleholder Genaro Hernandez, knocked out Ricardo Hernandez in the sixth round, also in September.

Diego De La Hoya (7-0, 5 KOs) is the cousin of Oscar De La Hoya and will appear at Fantasy Springs for the fifth time.

Dong (1-0, 1 KO) debuted by dropping Alex Rozman three times en route a second-round knockout in July.
