Former two-division titleholder Humberto Soto defeated John Molina by a unanimous decision in a 10-round junior welterweight fight on the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Marcos Maidana card Saturday in Las Vegas.

Soto (65-8-2, 35 knockouts) outworked Molina (27-5, 22 KOs), landing hard combinations to both the head and body throughout a fight that was marred by low blows that cost Molina two points and Soto one.

The scores were 96-91, 95-92 and 95-92.

Molina, known for his punching power, landed many solid, eye-catching right hands but never hurt the tough Soto and didn’t throw enough punches overall to win rounds.

Soto, who held junior lightweight and lightweight titles, has won seven consecutive fights since he was stopped in five rounds by Lucas Matthysse in 2012. Molina, in his third junior welterweight fight, was coming off a spirited effort in an 11th-round knockout loss to Matthysse in April.
