Andrzej Fonfara will return to the UIC Pavilion in Chicago on Nov. 1 and the front-runner to face him is Argentinian Roberto Bolonti, sources have told RingTV.com.

Fonfara (25-3, 15 knockouts) is coming off a 12-round unanimous decision loss to THE RING champion Adonis Stevenson. In his last fight, Bolonti (35-3, 24 KOs) lost a unanimous decision to Juregen Braehmer for the WBA light heavyweight title.

Fonfara-Bolonti would headline a quadruple-header that will most likely be televised by Showtime. Sources said that details are still being determined if the card will be part of Showtime’s “Championship Boxing” banner or would be classified as a Shobox.

Also appearing on the card will be Tomoki Kameda, Roberto Garcia and Caleb Truax. Kameda (30-0, 19 KOs) will fight Alejandro Hernandez (28-10-2, 15 KOs) for the WBO bantamweight title. Opponents for Garcia and Truax still need to be determined.

A source said that negotiations for Bolonti-Fonfara are still ongoing, but the Argentinian is the front-runner from the three different options that were presented. Marcus Oliveira and Yunieski Gonzalez were the other two fighters that were presented.

Details on if Showtime would approve Bolonti or if Bolonti had accepted the fight are not known.

This will be Fonfara’s first fight under advisor Al Haymon. Fonfara inked a deal with the powerful manager in August.

The long-term plan, a source said, is for Fonfara to meet former light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson, who is also with Haymon. Dawson returns to the ring on Oct. 4 in Connecticut.
