The Gennady Golovkin-Marco Antonio Rubio WBA middleweight title bout is a done deal for Oct. 18 at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., according to Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, which handles Golovkin.

“We’ve been working on the final details, and the deal is signed on both sides, so we’ll have a press conference in Los Angeles on Monday of next week,” said Loeffler.

“We’ve been talking to Rubio, and those details fell into place. I have to give Rubio a lot of credit. He had no hesitation in fighting Gennady when we came with the offer to fight on HBO.”

The holder of the WBA’s 160-pound title, Golovkin (30-0, 27 knockouts) will pursue his 12th defense and his 18th straight knockout victory against Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs), a winner of six straight fights, five of them by knockout, since falling by unanimous decision to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in February 2012.
