RingTV.com has a live round-by-round update on this page of Saturday night’s super middleweight rematch at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., during which Anthony Dirrell dethroned WBC titleholder Sakio Bika by unanimous decision in a rematch of their draw in December.

While Bika (32-6-3, 21 knockouts), 35, was dropped in the fifth round and penalized for fouling in their first fight, the 29-year-old Dirrell (27-0-1, 22 KOs) had vowed to duplicate the efforts of fellow cancer survivor Daniel Jacobs, who stopped Jarrod Fletcher in the fifth round on August 9.

“I want to thank Sakio Bika for giving me the rematch. It was great, man. This journey has been amazing. With all of my friends and family being around me, I can’t even fathom this, right now. I wasn’t never close to giving up on this. I knew I could out-box this guy. First fight, I got out of my game plan when I knocked him down, but I stuck to it, this time,” said Dirrell.

“I did the job. I got it done. I’m WBC champion of the world. Hard work. I wasn’t on the ropes. The first fight, I was on the ropes, just sitting there. This fight, I boxed him. That’s what I knew I could do all along. I already overcame the biggest fight of my life. Me and Danny Jacobs. Congratulations on your championship, Daniel. I’m happy. I can’t even explain it.”

Dirrell had an advantage in overall punches (156-to-124), power shots (104-to-86), and, jabs (52-38).

The Showtime broadcast will begin at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
