Heavyweight Anthony Joshua, the 2012 British Olympic gold medalist, has declared himself “ready to explode” against an opponent to be determined on Sept. 13 at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport announced on Thursday.

At 7-0 with as many knockouts, Joshua, 24, was scheduled to appear on an August 30 show at the National Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, that was to be headlined by Matthew Macklin opposite Jorge Sebastien Heiland.

But the entire Macklin-Sebastien card has been postponed until later in the year following an injury suffered by Macklin’s lead trainer, Jamie Moore.

“I am really looking forward to fighting at the Phones 4u Arena. It’s a really iconic venue for British boxing with those great nights for Ricky Hatton. So to add my name to the list of great fighters to perform there is a great feeling,” said Joshua.

“Obviously, though my focus is on my fight, my eighth as a pro now, and I really feel that I am beginning to bed into the pro game and I think I’ll start showing that in this fight. The extra fortnight won’t affect me. I have had some good sparring recently, so I am in a good place and ready to explode.”

The Sept. 13 show is being headlined by RING number four-rated junior featherweight Scott Quigg against Paulus Ambunda. Quigg is 7-0-2 with seven knockouts in his past nine fights and will be after his third consecutive stoppage win against Ambunda, a former titleholder.

Also on the card is a lightweight bout between Anthony Crolla and former titleholder Gamaliel Diaz.

“It’s a cracking bill with Scott Quigg’s world title fight on there and Anthony Crolla is on the move too. He’s a great fighter, probably the most underrated guy in Britain,” said Joshua.

“So I am hoping to get out there and watch them do their thing…I was excited to be fighting in Dublin as I got a great reception at the press conference there and hopefully I can get on the bill when the date is rescheduled later in the year.”
