A seventh-round left hook to the body by WBO bantamweight champion Tomoki Kameda dropped and stopped Pungluang Sor Singyu at the 1:35 mark as referee Russell Mora waved an end to Saturday night’s bout on the Canelo Alvarez-Erislandy Lara undercard.

In his debut on American soil, at the MGM in Las Vegas, Kameda (30-0, 19 knockouts) won on his 23rd birthday. It was the first stoppage loss for the 26-year-old Pungluang (46-3, 31 KOs) and the end of a three-fight winning streak.

Pungluang had previously lost his WBO title to Paulus Ambunda by unanimous decision in March 2013. In his follwing fight, five months later, Ambunda lost his WBO belt to Kameda by a wide unanimous decision.

In three other bouts, Brazilian Olympic bronze medalist Yamaguchi Falcao scored the stoppage after light heavyweight rival Jesus Cruz failed to come out for the fourth round, Olympian Jason Quigley won his middleweight pro debut with an 82-second knockout of Howard Reece, and junior welterweight John Karl Sosa earned a split decision over Luis Bello.

In an upset, Enrique Quevedo (16-7-1, 10 KOs) scored one knockdown in the fourth and two more in the fifth against junior featherweight Yoandris Salinas (20-1-2, 13 KOs) before Mora stepped in to end the fight at the 2:56 of the round.

In his previous fight in October, Salinas had battled the undefeated Scott Quigg to a draw.
