Top Rank President Todd duBoef says Terence Crawford will return to the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb., where the WBO lightweight titleholder scored a ninth-round KO of former featherweight beltholder Yuriorkis Gamboa before 10,943 screaming fans on Saturday.

Crawford (24-0, 17 knockouts), a 26-year-old Omaha native, came from behind to floor Gamboa (23-1, 16 KOs) once each in Rounds 5 and 8 and two more times in Round 9 before referee Genaro Rodriguez stepped in to end the fight at the 2:53 mark.

"The crowd was energized and enthusiastic, which created a unique environment that made this night special. We will definitely return," said duBoef. "The city, arena and Omaha supporters showed class and were over-accommodating in bringing in boxing at (the) highest level."

Crawford was coming off a unanimous decision that dethroned Ricky Burns as WBO beltholder on Burns' turf in Glasgow, Scotland, in March. Gamboa's previous bout had been a unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Darleys Perez on June 8, 2013.

A Cuban Olympic gold medalist who is promoted by Curtis Jackson (aka 50 Cent), Gamboa was competing at a career-high 135 pounds for only the second consecutive fight.

"Gamboa fought aggressively," said duBoef. "He was brave and was exciting in defeat. His future is up to him and his promoter."
