Welterweight prospect Artemio Reyes and female featherweight contender Maureen Shea return to the ring in the headlining bouts of notable fight cards coming up in Southern California this month and in July. Francisco Salazar has the details in this month's Southern Cali. news.

On June 27, Reyes returns to action at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif., where will face Abraham Alvarez in the 10-round main event of the Thompson Boxing Promotions "Path to Glory" card.

Reyes (21-2, 17 knockouts), from nearby Colton, knocked out Francisco Javier Reza in the second round of his last bout on November 22. He has won his last six bouts in a row since a first round technical knockout loss to Alan Sanchez.

Alvarez (16-5-1, 7 KOs), from Rosario, Sinaloa, Mexico, has lost his last four bouts in a row, all by knockout.

In a compelling bout between junior featherweight prospects, Jonathan Arrellano (14-3-2, 3 KOs) will fight Daniel Roman (9-2-1, 4 KOs) in an eight round bout. Both fighters reside in Southern California.

Three more fights round out the card.

For tickets ($100, $60, and $40), contact Thompson Boxing at (714) 935-0900.

ORANGE COUNTY

Longtime Southern California promoter Roy Englebrecht has always had a unique history of publicizing events or fights that he promotes. This Thursday night might take the cake.

If you had ever thought about managing a fighter, Englebrecht is giving you that opportunity with what he calls "Manage a Fighter for a Night." Fans will have the opportunity to experience what a fighter and his team goes through from the weigh-in to the walk to the ring.

For $500, fans get four credentials to be in the fighter's locker room and accompany them to the ring, four ringside seats to the show, four VIP parking passes, and have their picture taken with them at the weigh-in and in the ring on fight night.

In the main event, Alexey Zubov (3-0, 3 KOs) will fight Brent Urban (7-5, 5 KOs) in a six-round cruiserweight bout. Three more fights will round out the card, including three mixed martial arts bouts.

For tickets, call Roy Englebrecht Promotions at (949) 760-3131.

VENTURA COUNTY

Shea returns to action in Oxnard on July 11 at the Performing Arts Center. She will fight in a 10-round bout against a fighter to be determined, topping the Top Players Promotions "ICE vs. FIRE" card.

Shea lives in Oxnard and trains at Knuckleheadz Gym in nearby Ventura.

In her last bout on March 15, also at the Performing Arts Center in Oxnard, Shea won a 10-round unanimous decision over Nohime Dennisson.

Also on the card will be the ring returns of David Rodela and Michael Franco.

Unbeaten Daniel Franco (8-0-2, 5 KOs) also returns to action on July 11. Franco resides in the Riverside area, but trains in Oxnard.

Tickets ($150, $100, $50, and $35) are on sale at topplayerspromotions.com or at the Performing Arts Center box office (805) 486-2424.
