Matt Korobov-Jose Uzcategui on Crawford-Gamboa undercard

Matt Korobov will fight Jose Uzcategui in a clash of unbeaten middleweights on undercard of WBO lightweight beltholder Terence Crawford title defense against Yuriorkis Gamboa on June 28 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb., Top Rank CEO Bob Arum informed RingTV.com on Wednesday.

A 31-year-old southpaw from Orotukan, Russia, Korobov (23-0, 14 knockouts) pursue his third straight knockout against Uzcategui (22-0, 18 KOs), a 23-year-old Venezuelan who resides in Mexico and is after his sixth consecutive stoppage win.

Korobov was last in action for sixth-round knockout of Emil Gonzalez in April, Uzcategui, a sixth-round knockout over David Alonso Lopez in March.

In main event, the 26-year-old Crawford (23-0, 16 KOs) is being matched against Gamboa (23-0, 16 KOs), a 32-year-old former Olympic gold medalist from Cuba.



Crawford was last in the ring for a dominant title-winning decision over Ricky Burns in Glasgow, Scotland in March, and Gamboa's most recent bout was a unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Darleys Perez last June.

Crawford-Gamboa represent the first title fight in Omaha since heavyweight champion Joe Frazier beat Ron Stander in 1972, and Crawford is the state's first titleholder since Perry “Kid” Graves from won the vacant welterweight crown in 1914.
