RING junior welterweight champ Danny Garcia's majority decision over Mauricio Herrera on Saturday generated a peak audience of 1.1 million viewers, Showtime announced on Tuesday.

Garcia-Herrera attraced an average viewership 972,000 viewers as the headliner of a card that included heavyweight Deontay Wilder's 96-second knockout of Malik Scott.

The 25-year-old Garcia generated 20 percent more viewers than he did with a unanimous decision over Zab Judah during his last appearance on the regular network in April of last year.

"He's a star," Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer stated in an e-mail to RingTV.com. "He is not a good one he is the best one at 140 pounds."

In between the wins over Herrera and Judah, Garcia outpointed Lucas Matthysse on the Showtime Pay Per View-televised undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s majority decision over Canelo Alvarez in the September, adding Alvarez's WBA belt to the RING and WBC championships he already owned.

On Showtime Extreme on Saturday, 130-pounder Juan Manuel Lopez stopped Daniel Ponce de Leon in the second round, and middleweight Danny Jacobs scored a first-round stoppage of Milton Nunez.
