Tonight’s Golden Boy Live! main event fight between junior middleweights Julian Williams and Freddy Hernandez is a classic matchup between unbeaten prospect and seasoned veteran.

Based on their recent performances, the younger Williams has to be considered the favorite to win.

The Williams-Hernandez main event takes place at the House of Blues in Boston, Mass. The telecast will air live on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports Deportes, starting at 8:30 p.m. ET/ 5:30 p.m. PT.

Williams (14-0-1 1NC, 8 KOs) hails from Philadelphia and has scored impressive victories in recent fights. Williams has defeated former 154-pound titleholder Joachim Alcine, unbeaten prospect Jeremiah Wiggins, and in his most recent fight, a one-sided stoppage win over Orlando Lora.

Five of his last six victories have been technical knockout victories.

The only blemish on his record in recent fights was a no contest against Hugo Centeno, Jr. last September. The bout was stopped in the fourth round when an accidental head-butt opened a cut over Centeno’s eye, prompting the ringside physician to step in and stop the bout.

Williams was up on all three judges’ scorecards, but the bout was ruled a no contest because four rounds had not been completed to take the fight to the scorecards.

Hernandez (30-6, 20 KOs) will be the most experienced and dangerous fighter Williams will have faced thus far in his career.

The Mexico City resident has won five of his last six fights, but his losses were against the likes of Erislandy Lara, current WBO titleholder Demetrius Andrade, and former welterweight titleholder Andre Berto.

He holds a 10-round unanimous decision over slick Luis Collazo in October of 2011.

In the co-featured bout of the evening, lightweight Jamie Kavanagh will attempt to rebound from his first defeat when he fights Andres Navarro in an eight-round bout.

Kavanagh (15-1-1, 7 KOs) was knocked out in the sixth round by Daniel Ruiz in Playa del Carmen, Mexico on Dec. 14.

He will feel right at home as the Ireland-born Kavanagh will attempt to please fight fans who will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at the venue.

Navarro (9-4-1, 6 KOs) last fought on June 22, when he stopped Joel Ozuna in the third round. The Puerto Rican fighter has won his last five bouts in a row that dates back two years.

Navarro’s notable losses were a four round decision to Richar Abril in 2006 and a seventh round technical knockout to Jose A. Gonzalez four years later.

Also on the card are two unbeaten fighters in separate six round bouts.

Lightweight Ryan Kielczweski (18-0, 4 KOs) will fight Guillermo Sanchez (13-10-1, 5 KOs) and heavyweight Alexis Santos (12-0, 10 KOs) fights Sylvester Barron (8-3, 3 KOs).
