British heavyweight star Tyson Fury, THE RING’s No. 5-rated heavyweight, will face Gonzalo Omar Basile in London on Feb. 15, in a show headlined by a fighter he has already beaten – European champion Dereck Chisora.

Basile, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, has been a professional for almost 10 years. The 39-year-old is a veteran of 69 fights (61-8, 28 knockouts) whereas Fury is unbeaten in 21 bouts with 15 coming early.

The Manchester man hasn’t fought since his stoppage of former cruiserweight titlist Steve Cunningham in April last year. In a give and take brawl Fury survived a heavy second round knockdown to prevail in the seventh via a one punch knockout.

Two projected bouts against former WBA heavyweight titlist, and bitter rival, David Haye, fell through last year and stalled Fury’s progress. The 25 year old was devastated at losing a career high payday, and is just happy to be back.

“It’s been a while,” said Fury. “I’m looking forward to getting in the ring again and showing the world that Tyson Fury is back in action and on course for the world title.

“I wouldn’t say that rust has set in. I’m always in the gym sparring, and I’m desperate to get in the ring at the Copper Box Arena in front of a big electric crowd and do what I was born and bred to do – fight and win.

Fury continued, “Basile looks good, he’s experienced and has had plenty of fights. He’s seen a lot in his career against the likes of Alexander Dimitrenko and Artur Szpilka, but he’s never seen a man like Tyson Fury before.

“He’s just a few inches shorter than me, which is great because I’ve been fighting shorter men. He’ll be near my height and once I work out the range and timing, those big right hands will be detonating on his jaw.”

A rematch with Dereck Chisora could be in the pipeline for Fury as his enigmatic countryman has won four straight bouts since being stopped by David Haye in July 2012.
