Jean Pascal dominated Lucian Bute en route to a one-sided unanimous-decision victory in a 12-round light heavyweight fight Saturday in Montreal.

Pascal (29-2-1, 17 knockouts) dominated a listless Bute (31-2, 24 KOs) by punching in fierce flurries and landing the more eye-catching punches. Neither fighter was seriously hurt, and no one went down.

The scores were 116-112, 117-110 and 117-111.

Bute was inexplicably hesitant throughout the fight, as his corner told him late in the fight. His best round was the 12th, in which he unloaded dozens of hard punches in an effort to score a knockout but came up short.

The victory puts Pascal in the thick of the mix in a deep 175-pound division. Bute has now lost two of his last three fights. He was stopped by Carl Froch in the fifth round last May.

A full report will follow shortly.
