Keith Kizer, the executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), announced his resignation Friday, according to several sources.

Kizer was appointed executive director in 2006. He reportedly will serve until Jan. 27 and then return to the Nevada Attorney General’s office, where he had previously worked.

“It’s time to move on,” Kizer told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “It’s time to go back to being an attorney.”

NSAC Chairman Francisco Aguilar released a statement on Kizer’s decision.

“The board is grateful to Keith for his nearly eight years of dedicated service, which included the commission’s strongest years with regard to health and safety and fiscal soundness,” he said. “My fellow commissioners and I wish Keith all the best in his new role.”

The executive director oversees combat sports.
