Adrien Broner is rated at lightweight and welterweight by THE RING (the only fighter along with junior middleweight/welterweight champ Floyd Mayweather that the magazine ranks in two divisions). He seems done with the 135-pound division but the Ratings Panel has decided to wait until after his 147-pound title defense against Marcos Maidana before dropping him from lightweight.

Light Heavyweight: Adonis Stevenson, our champion (23-1, 20 knockouts) easily stopped our No. 6, Tony Bellew (20-2-1, 12 KOs) in six rounds. Stevenson can’t be rated higher since he is our champion.  Sergey Kovalev (23-0-1, 21 KOs), our No. 2 contender, dispatched unrated Ismayl Sillakh (21-2, 17 KOs) in two rounds. Bellew was No. 6 coming in and it’s no shame losing to Stevenson.  A discussion was held about Bellew dropping in the ratings but Isaac Chilemba (21-2-2, 9 KOs) is No. 7, and Bellew beat him in his previous fight. Our No. 8 is Karo Murat (25-2-1-15) who just lost to No. 1-rated Bernard Hopkins. No. 9-rated Jurgen Braehmer (42-2, 31 KOs) could advance but he is scheduled to fight Dec. 14, so we will wait for the results of that fight for movement consideration. No changes in the rankings.

Lightweight: A discussion was held about dropping Broner (27-0, 22 KOs), our current No. 1-rated 135 pounder, from the lightweight rankings since he’s about to have his second consecutive bout at welterweight against No. 10-rated Maidana (34-3, 31 KOs) on Dec. 14. We will wait until then to verify what weight he will stay at in order to consider this action. Broner is currently the No. 7-rated welterweight.

Junior Bantamweight: Unranked Zolani Tete (18-3, 16 KOs) stunned our No. 2-rated 115 pounder Juan Carlos Sanchez, Jr. (17-2-1, 9 KOs), stopping him the 10.  New ratings are:

Champion: vacant

1. Omar Narvaez (40-1-2, 21 KOs)

2. Carlos Cuadras (28-0, 23 KOs)

3. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (23-3-1, 21 KOs)

4. Tepparith Singwancha (24-3, 14 KOs)

5. Zolani Tete

6. Juan Carlos Sanchez, Jr.

7. Arthur Villanueva (24-0, 14 KOs)

8. Oleydong Sithsamerchai (51-1-1, 23 KOs)

9. Felipe Orucuta (28-2, 23 KOs)

10. Daiki Kameda (29-3, 18 KOs)

Former No. 6-rated Ryo Akaho seems to be campaigning at 118 pounds, so he has been dropped from junior bantamweight.

Flyweight:  No. 5-rated Moruti Mthalane (29-2, 20 KOs) has been inactive for over a year so he will be dropped from the ratings. Everyone else from No. 6 to No. 10 will move up one spot and Rocky Fuentes (35-6-2, 20 KOs) will enter at No. 10.  No. 9-rated Milan Melino (30-1, 12 KOs) won a decision over unrated Jose Alfredo Rodriguez.

Jr. Flyweight:  No. 1-rated Donnie Nietes (32-1-4, 18 KOs) defeated unrated Sammy Gutierrez. No. 6-rated Pedro Guevara (21-1-1, 14 KOs) stopped unrated Ivan Menses in the third. No. 10-rated Paipharob Kokietgym (21-0, 16 KOs) has been inactive for over a year and will be dropped from the rating and be replaced by Nkosinathi Joyi (25-2, 17 KOs) at No. 10.

Strawweight:  Xiong Zhao Zhong #3 (21-4-1-11) stopped unrated Lookrak Kiatmungmee in five (7-5-0-4). #7Carlos Buitrago (27-0-1-16)  fought to a draw with #8 Merlito Sabillo (23-0-1-12).  No change
