ATLANTIC CITY — Golden Boy and Showtime announced on Saturday that the Dec. 14 WBA welterweight title bout between WBA beltholder Adrien Broner and Marcos Maidana is being moved from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to the Alamodome in San Antonio and that it will no longer be on pay per view.

On the Broner-Maidana undercard, WBC junior featherweight beltholder Leo Santa Cruz will defend his belt against Cesar Ceda, and hard-hitting welterweight standouts Keith Thurman and Jesus Soto-Karass will face each other. WBA light heavyweight beltholder Beibut Shumenov and former welterweight titleholder Victor Ortiz will also be on the undercard. The fight with Shumenov, who faces unbeaten Tamas Kovacs, or the bout with Ortiz, who faces Alfonzo Gomez, will be shown on Showtime Extreme.

On Dec. 7, at Barclays Center in their native Brooklyn, former junior welterweight and welterweight titleholders Paulie Malignaggi and Zab Judah will headline a show supported by IBF 147-pound beltolder Devon Alexander defending against unbeaten prospect Shawn Porter, a junior middleweight contender clash between Erislandy Lara and Austin Trout, and WBC super middleweight beltholder Sakio Bika‘s first title defense against unbeaten propsect Anthony Dirrell.

Alexander-Porter was originally scheduled to headline a Nov. 30 card in San Antonio. That card has been cancelled.

A full report on the press conference that announced both stacked Showtime Championship Boxing cards by Ryan Songalia will be posted shortly.
