Boxing judge C.J. Ross, whose 114-114 score for the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Canelo Alvarez fight on Saturday was widely criticized, has left the sport indefinitely, according to several reports.

Ross reportedly was scheduled to meet with Nevada State Athletic Commission Chairman Bill Brady on Tuesday to discuss her scoring. Instead, she told him of her decision.

Brady quoted Ross in an email to The Los Angeles Times: “I will be taking some time off from boxing but will keep in touch.”

Ross, who reportedly has been a judge for 22 years, told KLAS-TV in Las Vegas that she doesn’t know whether she will take the steps necessary to return to boxing.

Keith Kizer, executive director of the NSAC, was supportive of Ross. Kizer made the decision to have Ross work the fight, which both the Mayweather and Alvarez camps OK’d.

“To her credit, she does not want to take away from the story, being what a dominate performance by Floyd Mayweather,” he told The Times. “So, she has asked us if she can take some time off; we’ve agreed. It shows the type of person she is. Bill was very understanding and supportive. He agreed that that was a great avenue to take.”

The other two judges scored the fight for Mayweather. Craig Metcalfe and Dave Moretti had it 117-111 and 116-112, respectively. Some of those at ringside scored it a shutout for Mayweather.
