Brandon Rios‘ wife, Vicky, gave birth to their third child together, Ava Gianna Rios, who is named after flyweight boxer Ava Knight.

Born at “around 7 p.m.” on Monday at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, Calif., according to close friend and publicist Nancy Rodriguez, Ava weighed six pounds.

All of Rios’ children (two by a different mother) are named after boxers: Laila, 10 (after Laila Ali); Marco, 8 (Marco Antonio Barrera); Mia, 2 (Mia St. John); and Brandon Jr., 1.

A former lightweight beltholder, Rios (31-1-1, 23 KOs) will face eight-division titlewinner Manny Pacquiao in a welterweight fight in Macau on Nov. 23 (Nov. 24 in China).

Rios is coming off a close unanimous decision loss to Mike Alvarado in March that was a rematch of Rios’ seventh-round stoppage win over Alvarado last October.

Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 KOs) is attempting to rebound from consecutive losses, a split-decision to WBO beltholder Tim Bradley last June and sixth-round knockout to Juan Manuel Marquez last December.

MIKEY-GARCIA-ROCKY MARTINEZ; NONITO DONAIRE-VIC DARCHYNIAN TO HAPPEN ON NOV. 9

A deal was reached over the weekend to match RING 126-pound champion Mikey Garcia and WBO junior lightweight beltholder Roman “Rocky” Martinez as part of a Nov. 9 tripleheader to include former RING junior featherweight champion Nonito Donaire in his featherweight debut in a rematch with ex-beltholder Vic Darchynian, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum informed RingTV.com on Monday.

Arum said that the card will be held at The American Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, and also feature a junior middleweight clash between Vanes Martirosyan and Demetrius Andrade for the WBO’s vacant belt.

A press conference is being held on Wednesday in Corpus Christi at the arena to officially announce the card, Arum said.

“The purse bid was scheduled for today,” said Arum. “But over the weekend, on Friday really, we reached an agreement on the terms with Martinez, and he signed the contract over the weekend.”

Garcia (32-0, 27 KOs) is the WBO’s mandatory challenger to face Martinez (30-1-1, 20 KOs), who is coming off a split-decision victory over previously unbeaten Diego Magdaleno in April, which followed a split draw with Juan Carlos Burgos in January.

A Mexican-American boxer-puncher from Oxnard, Calif., Garcia, 25, is coming off January’s eighth-round technical decision over Orlando Salido, which was followed by June’s fourth-round stoppage of former titleholder Juan Manuel Lopez.

Garcia was overweight prior to his contracted 126-pound bout with Lopez, costing him his WBO belt at the scales.

Donaire (31-2, 20 KOs) was dethroned as RING 122-pound champion and WBO beltholder in his last fight by Guillermo Rigondeaux, who also holds the WBA title.

Darchinyan (39-5-1, 28 KOs) has won two straight since losing consecutive unanimous decisions to Anselmo Moreno and Shinsuke Yamanaka, and is coming off a fourth-round stoppage win over Javier Gallo in May.

Darchynian was the unbeaten IBF flyweight titleholder in July of 2007 when Donaire scored a fifth-round knockout against him.

ARUM: RIGONDEAUX TARGETED FOR DECEMBER

Arum said that he is trying to bring Rigondeaux back in December.

“We’re working on a December show with Rigondeaux,” said Arum of Rigondeaux, a two-time Cuban Olympic gold medalist who resides in Miami.

“We haven’t gotten the go-ahead yet from HBO, but I’m very optimistic. It’s only right. Miami would be a possibility.”
