It was a relatively quiet boxing weekend, but heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder made a lot of noise with his chilling first-round knockout of former heavyweight beltholder Siarhei Liakhovich.

At heavyweight, Wilder took out Liakhovich in the first round. Wilder is on the top-10 radar but is still a fair way from a top-10 ranking. No changes.

At junior middleweight, undefeated prospect Jermall Charlo stopped Antwone Smith in the second round. Jermall did what he had to do but not top-10 ranking yet. No changes.

At junior welterweight, former lightweight titleholder Antonio DeMarco returned, stopping Colombian Fidel Monterrosa Munoz in five rounds. Not sure if DeMarco returns to 135 pounds again. We’re waiting to hear from his team. No changes.

At lightweight, Ruslam Nugaev stopped Jose Hernandez in five rounds. Nugaev is having a strong 2013. He’s not top-10 yet, but worth watching.

At junior lightweight, Dante Jordan got up from a sixth-round knockdown to stop former titleholder Gamaliel Diaz in eight. Jordan, who dropped Diaz twice, is on a four-fight win streak including a revenge rematch win over Miguel Roman. Emmanuel Tagoe made his American debut forcing Gerardo Robles to retire on his stool at the end of the ninth round. Jose Pedraza won the USBA title by decision over Gebriel Tolmaiyan. Francisco Vargas was strong in outpointing fellow unbeaten prospect Brandon Bennett over 10 rounds. No changes.

At featherweight, Daniel Rosas stopped Roberto Castaneda in two. He’s top-10 material but he’s fought from 115 to 126. Gary Russell Jr. was not able to stop Juan Ruiz but he did win a shutout 10-round decision. Hozumi Hasegawa took out Genaro Carmargo in the opening round. Hasegawa enters the No. 10 spot, replacing Ronnie Rios.

At junior featherweight, Neohmar Cermeno won a split decision over Omar Escandon. Hidenori Otake keeps getting decent wins. No changes.

At bantamweight: WBC titleholder Shinsuke Yamanaka took out Jose Nieves with a left hook in the first round. Yamanaka, an unbeaten Japanese veteran, makes a strong case for being the sport’s top 118 pounder, but for now he will remain at No. 2 behind the well-traveled Anselmo Moreno, who defended his WBA title with a unanimous decision over William Urina.

At flyweight, RING/WBC champ Akira Yaegashi won a 12-round unanimous decision over Oscar Blanquet, dropping him in the eighth. Yaegashi is our champion so no movement.
