At heavyweight, Andy Ruiz stopped fellow unbeaten prospect Joe Hanks in the fourth round; his best win as a pro although he’s not a top-10 rated heavyweight yet. Former title challenger Odlanier Solis registered a good TKO win in the seventh round against Yakup Sagiam. No changes in the rankings.

At middleweight, Marco Antonio Rubio beats almost anyone who is not in the top 10. The two-time former title challenger stopped Dionisio Miranda by TKO in two. Rubio will enter the No. 10 spot in the ratings replacing Max Bursak since Rubio has won rounds over top level opposition while Bursak has not.

altAt welterweight, Keith Thurman was in a close fight in the early rounds against fellow unbeaten puncher Diego Chaves. Thurman would eventually take over and scored a 10th round TKO win. Thurman moves up to No. 8 in the ratings and Paul Malignaggi moves to No. 9.

Gatekeeper Jesus Soto Karass upset former two-time titleholder Andre Berto by TKO in the 12th round. Berto was banged up pretty well and sustained an injured shoulder on his way to defeat. It was a career-best win for Soto Karass, but given the fact that he’s lost five of his last nine bouts and Berto had lost two of his prior three bouts going into Saturday’s fight, it wasn’t enough to earn him a ranking.

At junior welterweight, former welterweight contender Selcuk Aydin defeated Aaron Herrera by KO in the eighth. No change.

At lightweight, Omar Figueroa and Nihito Arakawa fought a potential Fight of The Year battle with Figueroa winning by unanimous decision over 12 hard rounds. Both warriors brought their “A” game with the action going back and forth until the end. It was a terrific win for the young Texan, but not enough to earn a ranking. No change.

THE RING’s No. 4-rated junior lightweight Juan Carlos Burgos and Yakubi Amidu fought at 135 pounds to a draw Friday night. Word is that Burgos, however, will stay at 130 and will not move up to 135.

At featherweight, IBF beltholder and No. 6-rated RING contender Evgeny Gradovich retained his title with a unanimous decision over Mauricio Munoz. No change.

At junior featherweight, Cristian Mijares stopped Carlos Jacobo by TKO in the sixth round. Mijares will enter the ratings at No. 10 replacing Fernando Montiel. Prospect Genesis Servania kept his unbeaten record with a ninth round technical decision over Konosuke Tomiyama.

At bantamweight, No. 3-rated contender Koki Kameda retained his “regular” WBA title with a wide points win over John Mark Apolinario. No change.

At flyweight, Juan Estrada fought off the tough challenge of Milan Melindo with a unanimous decision to retain his WBO and WBA titles. Melindo was dropped in the 11th round. Both fighters will maintain their current RING ratings with Estrada at No. 1 and Melindo at No. 7.
