Undefeated middleweight prospect J’Leon Love failed his post-fight drug examination following his split-decision victory over Gabriel Rosado that took place on the May 4 undercard of the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Robert Guerrero fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, according to Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Kizer said that Love (16-0, 8 knockouts), who is promoted by Mayweather Promotions, tested postive for the weight-loss drug Hydrochlorothiazide. The Michigan native had struggled to make weight for the 10-round bout, having initially weighed in at 161.5 pounds before shedding a pound and a half.

Matthew Garretson (2-1, 1 KO), who was stopped by Lanell Bellews on the Mayweather-Guerrero undercard, also tested positive for the weight-cutting drug Furosemide. Kizer said that each fighter faces a suspension and a fine of up to the full amount of their purses.

According to Kizer, Love earned $100,000 for his disputed victory over Rosado, of Philadelphia, who dropped him in the sixth round. Garretson made $3,000 during his fourth-round knockout loss to Bellows.

“Floyd Mayweather does not condone this kind of behavior,” said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions. “It’s totally unacceptable, and there will be additional repercussions internally.”

Kizer said that the fighters’ will have an opportunity to have their respective cases reviewed as part of the NSAC’s commission agenda in mid-June.

“I’ve notified the promoters and I’ve notified their people. There will be a complaint filed on both of the fighters sometime this week or early next week, and I will also place them on temporary suspension pending a hearing, likely in mid-June,” said Kizer.

“In the past, when fighters have been found guilty of using diuretics, they’ve been suspended anywhere from seven to nine months, and they’ve been fined about or approximately a third of their purse. If they won the fight, then the result was changed to a no-decision. Garretson lost the fight, so that decision will stand.”

JAMES DEGALE TO FACE SEBASTIAN DEMERS ON FRIDAY

Great Britain super middleweight James DeGale, a 2008 Olympic gold medalist, will make pursue his fifth straight victory and against Sebastian Demers, of, Hilton Lac Leamy, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada on Friday at 7 p.m. ET on WealthTV from the Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec.

A 27-year-old, DeGale (14-1, 9 knockouts) suffered his lone defeat by majority decision against unbeaten countryman George Groves in May of 2011, having fought all but one of his bouts in the United Kingdom.

DeGale, who lost to Groves in his 10th professional fight, fought once in Denmark, stopping Cristian Sanavia in the fourth round.

Demers, 33, is 31-5, having lost three straight fights since defeating former titleholder William Joppy by majority decision in March of 2010, falling by unanimous decision to Allan Green in his last fight in November of 2011.

Demers also lost his lone title bout by third-round stoppage to Arthur Abraham in May of 2007 in a failed bid to earn the IBF middleweight belt.

In the main event of the nine-bout card, lightweight Ghislain Maduma (13-0, 9 KOs), of Montreal, meets Mexico’s Saul Carreon (20-5, 134 KOs).

In other bouts junior lightweight Baha Laham (11-0-1, 4 KOs), of Montreal, faces Alan Paredes (15-1-1, 5 KOs), of Lima, Peru; light heavyweight Andy Gardiner (7-0, 3 KOs), of Ontario, meets Emiliano Cayetano (21-5, 12 KOs), of the Domincan Republic, and welterweights Tony Luis (15-1, 7 KOs), of Canada, and Maurycy Gojko (21-37-2, 7 KOs), of Gliwice, Poland, will battle.
