David Haye’s trainer and advisor, Adam Booth insists the injured Englishman’s heavyweight clash with Manuel Charr, slated for June 29 at MEN Area, Manchester, is ‘postponed’ rather than cancelled.

News that Haye (26-2, 24 knockouts) injured his left hand in training last Sunday emerged Tuesday morning, along with confirmation from the former heavyweight and cruiserweight holder that he was reluctantly withdrawing from his anticipated first outing in almost a year.

Booth has now revealed the 32-year-old south Londoner suffered a dislocated hand and is still waiting to learn how long it will take to recover. However, when asked if Haye’s non-title bout against Germany’s Charr (23-1, 13 KOs) was off for good, Booth suggested not.

“Training on Sunday, he felt a pain, it got worse, he tried to carry on with it and by the end of the session he couldn’t get the glove off,” he told Sky Sports News. “So that’s it, he’s got to rest.

“The fight is postponed. There was a dislocation in the hand and we’re just waiting to see how long everything around the dislocation will take to heal.”
