There was not much action this past week but we do have some movement to report in THE RING’s division ratings, including slight changes to the 140- and 118-pound rankings.

At junior welterweight, Juan Manuel Marquez, who was ranked No. 7 and is also rated No. 1 in the welterweight division, will be removed from the 140-pound rankings.

Marquez fought Pacquiao at 147pounds and will challenge Bradley for the WBO 147-pound title in his next scheduled fight. He will remain No. 1 in the welterweight ratings.

With Marquez out of the junior welterweight ratings, Nos. 8, 9 and 10 will move up one spot and Dierry Jean, who improved his record to 25-0 with an impressive fourth-round KO of Cleotis Pendarvis on Friday, will enter at the No. 10 spot. There was discussion by the Ring Ratings Panel that Karim Mayfield and Viktor Postol also be considered for the No. 10 spot.

At lightweight, Ricky Burns started slowly but recovered later to stop Jose A. Gonzalez when Gonzalez failed to come out for the tenth round. Although Burns did struggle with Gonzalez early, he showed his championship quality. Burns will remain at No. 3 in the lightweight ratings.

At featherweight, Vic Darchinyan stopped Javier Gallo in four rounds. Darchinyan will remain No. 5 in our Jr. Featherweight ratings.

At bantamweight, Jamie McDonnell won the vacant IBF with a close decision win over previously unbeaten Julio Ceja. McDonnel showed himself deserving of a top ten rating. The changes to the bantamweight rankings are as follows: No. 7 Joseph Agbeko; No. 8 McDonnell; No. 9 Ceia and No. 10 Ryosuke Iwasa. Agbeko is sold at 118 pounds, McDonnell should not move past him after a close win.

Pungluang Sor Singyu, the former WBO beltholder, stopped Juma Fundi in the second round. No ranking at this time.

At junior bantamweights Oleydong Sithsamerchai and Tepparith Singwancha were active in six- and 12-round decisions respectively. No change.

At junior flyweight, Kazuto Ioka stopped Wisanu Kokietgym with a body shot in the ninth round on May 8. Although Ioka has had only a couple of fights at 108 pounds, he will flop with Adrian Hernandez. Ioka will move up to No. 4 and Hernendez will drop one spot to No. 5. Hernandez recently outpointed Yader Cardoza to retain his WBC title.

At strawweight, Ryo Miyazaki stopped Carlos Velarde in the fifth round to retain his WBA title. Velarde came on strong for the first four rounds until Miyazaki stopped him in the fifth. Miyazaki switches with Rodriguez in the ratings. Ryo Miyazaki is now No. 5 and Mario Rodriguez drops one spot to No. 6.
