Gennady Golovkin stopped Nobuhiro Ishida with a big right hand 2:11 into the third round of their middleweight bout Saturday in Monaco.

Golovkin, who retained his WBA middleweight title, landed hard punches consistently in the second and third rounds. But a brave Ishida – who had never been knocked out – kept coming back for more.

And then Golovkin (26-0, 23 knockouts) landed an overhand right to Ishida’s chin that sent the Japanese fighter through the ropes and hurt him badly. Referee Stanley Christodoulou immediately waved his arms to signal the end of the one-sided contest.

Golovkin now has 13 consecutive knockouts.

Ishida (24-9-2, 9 KOs), who made his name by stopping James Kirkland in 2011, has now lost three consecutive fights.
