Centeno, Leatherwood make weight for ShoBox main event
Junior middleweight prospects Hugo Centeno Jr. and KeAndrae Leatherwood made weight for their ShoBox: The New Generation main event on Friday at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif. Centeno weighed 154 pounds for the scheduled 10 rounder. Leatherwood weighed 153.4.
Centeno (17-0, 9 knockouts), of Oxnard, Calif., fought six times last year. The 6-foot-1 switch-hitter stopped veteran Allen Conyers in six rounds in his most recent bout on Dec. 15.
Leatherwood (12-1, 8 KOs), of Birmingham, Ala., has gone 3-0-1 in his last four bouts since suffering a sixth-round TKO to fellow prospect John Jackson in December of 2011.
The co-featured fighters of the Showtime broadcast — hard-punching junior lightweight prospects Braulio Santos and Kevin Hoskins — also made weight.
Unbeaten but untested Santos (9-0, 8 KOs), a 23 year old from Carolina, Puerto Rico, weighed 127.4 pounds.
Hoskins, a once-beaten but tested 22-year-old bomber from Los Angeles, weighed 127.6 pounds for their scheduled eight-round bout.
Hoskin (7-1, 5 KOs) suffered a third-round KO loss to relentless slugger Ramon Valadez in a shootout last April, but rebounded with a first-round stoppage of previously unbeaten (9-0-1) Eduardo Rivera on Feb. 21.
