Former world titleholder Roy Jones Jr., HBO’s “Boxing After Dark” expert commentator, will assume the role of analyst for the network’s remaining 2012 World Championship Boxing and Pay Per View broadcasts in place of Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel “Manny” Steward, who died on Oct. 25 at the age of 68.

Steward’s funeral was held on Wednesday in Detroit, where he groomed many young men into boxing champions at the city’s famous Kronk Gym, including Thomas Hearns.

Considered the professor of a refuge for wayward inner-city youth who spawned such boxing champions as Hearns, Hilmer Kenty, Milton McCrory and Jimmy Paul, among others, Steward later fighters such as Lennox Lewis, Oscar De La Hoya, Julio C├®sar Ch├ívez, Wladimir Klitschko, Evander Holyfield, Michael Moorer and Miguel Cotto.

Jones will begin with Saturday night’s double-header at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, featuring former WBO junior lightweight beltholder Adrien Broner against WBC lightweight beltholder Antonio DeMarco, and undefeated heavyweight prospect Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell against once-beaten Johnathon Banks.
