Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has informed RingTV.com that he will attend Thursday’s The Fight Night For Children event at The Washington Hilton, in Washington, D.C., “if the weather allows.”

Arum, whose offices are located in Las Vegas, said that much depends on the situations dictated by Hurricane Sandy, aka “Frankenstorm,” which is projected to cause life-threatening conditions along much of the East Coast starting early this week.

Created in 1990 by the late Joseph E. Robert, who died of brain cancer in December of last year, the Fight Night is a black-tie event geared toward generating financial support from government, business, entertainment and sports entities for Washington, D.C.-area children from low-income families.

The evening includes auctions, entertainment and live professional boxing matches, with proceeds funding organizations which provide education and healthcare services to needy kids.

Boxers expected to be on hand include former undisputed junior middleweight champion Aaron Pryor, ex-heavyweight champions James “Buster” Douglas and Michael Spinks, and former heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney.

Also expected to be in attendance are IBF junior welterweight titleholder Lamont Peterson (30-1-1, 15 knockouts), his brother, standout lightweight contender Anthony Peterson (31-1, 20 KOs), and their manager and trainer, Barry Hunter, according to publicist Andre Johnson.

Lamont Peterson has been ordered by the IBF to face ex-beltholder Kendall Holt, who is next in line after mandatory challenger and former strap-holder Zab Judah failed to sign a contract.

Peterson is also reportedly considering a rematch with WBO welterweight titleholder Tim Bradley, who decisioned him in December of 2009.

Peterson is 3-0-1 with two knockouts since falling to Bradley — who is promoted by Top Rank — and is coming off a disputed split-decision win over Amir Khan in December, after which he tested positive for synthetic testosterone and was stripped of the WBA belt he won from Khan in addition to the IBF title.
