Unbeaten featherweight contender Mikey Garcia, of Oxnard, Calif., said he would be willing to fight Argentina’s rugged Jonathan Victor Barros if a deal is indeed reached.

According to a report by BoxingScene.com, Barros (34-3-1, 18 knockouts) has agreed to face Garcia (29-0, 25 KOs) in an HBO-televised clash on the Nov. 10 undercard of a match up featuring undefeated junior middleweight Vanes Martirosyan against Erislandy Lara in a WBC eliminator bout.

“They had mentioned Barros earlier,” said Garcia of Barros, who would replace WBO 126-pound beltholder Orlando Salido, who suffered an injury to an index finger.

“I just saw on BoxingScene that HBO gave the green light on that fight with Barros. I still haven’t signed a contract yet, but, hopefully, it gets done and the fight is on. That’s what I know.”

Garcia, who turns 25 in December, has stopped 13 of his past 14 opponents and vanquished his past seven opponents by knockout. Barros, who is 30, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to IBF junior lightweight titleholder Juan Carlos Salgado (26-1-1, 16 KOs) in August.

Barros never has been stopped, having split route-going bouts with former beltholder Celestino Caballero and gone the distance with unbeaten former featherweight titleholder Yuriorkis Gamboa, a Cuban Olympic gold medalist.

In his past two fights, Garcia dominated former contender Bernabe Concepcion and Mauricio Pastrana on the way to knockouts in the seventh and second rounds, respectively.

But during that time, potential high-profile bouts with Caballero and Salido, as well as ex-titleholder Juan Manuel Lopez have all failed to materialize.

“We’re looking forward to any fight,” said Garcia, who is trained by his Mexican-born father, Eduardo Garcia, and his older brother, ex-titleholder Robert Garcia. “We’re looking forward to just getting in the ring and fighting.”
