South African super middleweight contender Thomas Oosthuizen scored a unanimous decision over Rowland Bryant in the featured bout of Dibella Entertainment’s Broadway Boxing show on Thursday in New York. Scores were 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111.

The fighters mostly stood at a distance in the early rounds, with Bryant occasionally lunging in with wide punches and Oosthuizen using his long jab to maintain the gap.

The 6-foot-4 South African had taken control of the bout by the middle rounds, using his size and more relaxed boxing skills to control Bryant (16-2, 11 knockouts), who, aside from a few moments — most notably in rounds 6 and 10 — was largely limited to winging loaded-up shots in between absorbing jabs and body punches from “Tommy Gun.”

THE RING’s No. 4-rated 168-pounder, Oosthuizen (20-0-1, 13 KOs) has been mentioned as a possible opponent for Carl Froch, who capped off his tour through the upper ranks of the division in May with a fifth-round knockout of Lucian Bute in Nottingham, England.
