Collins inducted into Pennsylvania Hall of Fame

Nigel Collins, former editor of THE RING Magazine, was inducted into the Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fame on Sunday in Philadelphia.

Collins, a respected writer for more than 40 years, was Editor-in-Chief of THE RING twice, in the late 1980s and 1993-2011. He also wrote the popular book Boxing Babylon, Behind the Shadowy World of the Prize Ring.

Collins continues to work as a boxing writer and television commentator.

Also inducted into the Hall were: Johnny Carter, a top bantamweight during the 1980s; Eddie Corma, a successful lightweight in 1950s; Joe Hand Sr., a founding member of the investment group that back Joe Frazier and closed-circuit entrepreneur; Dorsey Lay, a talented lightweight in the 1940s; Steve Little, a WBA super middleweight titleholder who was active in the 1980s and ’90s; Frank Moran, a heavyweight contender in the early part of the 20thcentury; Joe Rowan, a capable heavyweight in the 1950s; and Jesse Smith, a popular middleweight in the 1950s and ’60s.
