The U.S. now has seven fighters in the London Olympics after lightweight Jose Ramirez of Avenal, Calif., and middleweight Terrell Gausha of Cleveland won their fights in the Americas Qualifier on Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro.

Ramirez defeated Canadian Alejandro Rynn 23-11 and Gausha beat Enrique Collazo of Puerto Rico 16-5 to qualify for the Games.

Super heavyweight Dominic Breazale of Alhambra, Calif., also won his fight on Wednesday, moving a step closer to qualification.

“I feel great, Ramirez said. “It’s been a long year for me. I feel amazing, and I’m blessed to be in the position that I’m in right now. I’m very excited to represent the U.S., myself, my family and the team in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Now, it’s time to go for the gold and be the Americas champion.”

Said Gausha: “All the pressure I endured and hard work that I put in has paid off, and God is great. Dreams really do come true. I grew a lot over the last year and I saw what it took to get to this point so the timing was right for me.”

Breazale defeated Gidelson Silva of Brazil 18-12. He can earn a berth in the Olympics with a victory in his semifinal fight on Friday.

Thursday was an off day for all of the competitors.
