Terrell Gausha (165 pounds), Jose Ramirez (132) and Dominic Breazale (super heavyweight) won their opening bouts at the Americas Qualifer in Rio De Janeiro, the final step to qualify for the London Olympics.

Gausha, of Cleveland, routed Oliver Ballestro of Nicaragua 22-5. Ramirez, of Avenal, Calif., defeated Michael Alexander of Trinidad and Tobago when the referee stopped their fight in the third round. Breazale, of Alhambra, Calif., rallied to outpoint Jose Payares of Venezuela 12-10.

Gausha and Ballestro will advance to London if they win their quarterfinal-round matches on Wednesday. Breazale is two victories from a guaranteed berth.

On Tuesday, two Americans will fight for berths in the Games. They are Jamel Herring (141) of Coram, N.Y., and Marcus Browne (178) of Staten Island, N.Y. Also fighting Tuesday is Michael Hunter (200) of Las Vegas, who is two wins from a guaranteed berth.
