10: Best junior featherweights of all time
7. Vuyani Bungu
Record: 39-5 with 19 knockouts
Years Active: 1987-2005
Title Reign: August 20, 1994-February 6, 1999 (IBF)
Style: Bustling bob-and-weaver
Strengths: Stamina, combination punching, airtight defense
Why Is He Ranked? His 13 defenses over four-and-a-half years ranks second among 122-pound champions but his standing suffers because he never consolidated his long reign with unification fights with Daniel Zaragoza, Erik Morales, Wilfredo Vazquez Sr. or Marco Antonio Barrera, all of whom had overlapping reigns. But when “The Beast” met his best competition he was up to the challenge more times than not. There’s much to be said for consistent excellence and Bungu certainly had that.
