The Robert Guerrero-Marcos Maidana fight on Aug. 13 in San Jose became official when Maidana signed a contract today, according to Guerrero’s camp.

Guerrero signed last week.

The 12-round junior welterweight fight will take place at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. – not far from Guerrero’s hometown of Gilroy – and will be televised live on HBO.

Guerrero (29-1-1, 18 knockouts) is coming off a sensational decision over Michael Katsidis in a lightweight bout in April. He is moving up a weight class to fight Maidana.

Maidana (30-2, 27 KOs) narrowly outpointed Erik Morales on the same card in April.
