Bernard Hopkins, 46, became the oldest man to win a major title by outpointing Jean Pascal to take THE RING and WBC light heavyweight belts on Saturday in Montreal.

George Foreman was 45 when he stopped Michael Moorer to win the heavyweight championship in 1994.

Hopkins, who fought to a draw with Pascal in December, took control of the fight by the middle rounds with effective aggression. He landed a number of crisp straight right hands throughout the fight.

Pascal fought well in spurts but, aside from a few telling blows, he had trouble landing consistently.

The judges had it 115-113, 116-112 and 115-114, all for Hopkins. RingTV.com had it 116-112 for Hopkins.

A more-detailed report will follow.
