Kermit Cintron may fight Carlos Molina in the Showtime-televised co-feature the anticipated Brandon Rios-Urbano Antillon lightweight title bout on July 9 in Carson, Calif., according to various reports.

The former welterweight beltholder, who hasn't fought since losing a bizarre four-round technical decision to Paul Williams last May, would face the surging fringe contender in a 10-round junior middleweight bout.

Cintron (32-3-1, 28 knockouts), THE RING's No. 2-rated junior middleweight, has only fought three times since holding current middleweight champ Sergio Martinez to a controversial draw in February of 2009. One of those bouts was a unanimous decision over then-undefeated Alfredo Angulo.

Molina (18-4-2, 6 knockouts), a 27-year-old Chicago native, is on an 11-bout unbeaten streak, which includes a 10-round draw over highly touted 154-pound prospect Erislandy Lara and a seventh-round TKO of hard-punching spoiler Allen Conyers in his last two bouts.
