WBO super featherweight champion Ricky Burns may be about to meet South African Mzonke Fana, the IBF holder, after all.

UK promoter Frank Warren, who looks after Scottish ace Burns, is reportedly ready to re-open negotiations with Fana following news that the 37-year-old’s fight against Argenis Mendez has collapsed due to a financial dispute.

Burns, 28, already is booked to fight on July 16 in Liverpool but his opponent hasn’t been determined.

Don’t rule out a unification showdown with two-time champ Fana, or even a tasty scrap between Burns and Mendez, 24, who is currently training in England.
